I don't understand you, Blogger! At least 8 posts are gone! This is not good so let me just apologize to those of you who have been following along.
Please visit Bleed Crimson - I blog over there as well and I know those posts won't disappear! Plus, Sam Wasson does an amazing job supporting the volleyball team with interviews with Coach Jordan and other very important news!

It's time. Finally.
The Lady Aggies hit the road to open up the season this weekend at the Illinois Tournament. Friday, they take on Oregon, at 3:30pm. Saturday, they play Illinois at 9am then North Carolina at 6pm. Rumor has it that live stats will be available at nmstatesports.com and the match with Illinois will be streamed for 6.95 on the Illinois website. You can also listen to AM 570 with Kyle Doperalski doing play by play again this season.
Oregon is ranked #11 in the AVCA pre-season poll and is in the PAC 10. Illinois is Big Ten and North Carolina is ACC. The matches (or are they games?) should be good to check out if you're in the area. I know a couple of you who read along are in that area. If you do go, let me know what you thought.
Reaching back to last week ----
The alumni game was a blast. The tailgaters were sent packing almost - we had to relocate to the north doors of the Pan Am, thanks to Mother Nature. Not to worry, tho. A good time was had by all.
The alums did a great job and challenged our team quite well but fell 4-0. It was great to see last years seniors even though it was kind of weird seeing them on the other side of the net.
The Lady Aggies come back to the Pan Am for a 5 game stand starting on September 3rd vs UTEP. Then, Sept 4-7 is the Hotel Encanto Classic which brings Florida Gulf Coast, Houston, Texas and Utah into town.
Sept 6 will be a special event as 3 volleyballers will be inducted into the Aggie Volleyball Legends - The inductees are Alane Pierce-Stutzman (1983-86,) Vanessa White-Johnson (1988-91), and Maria Roth (1991-95) who is also the Senior Women's Administrator at NMSU.
Finally, Coach Jordan stopped by AM 570 and visited with Alan Reihl today. Check it out.

Bleed Crimson.net is doing a volleyball preview this week and it is really a great read so far. NMSU VB Alum Jordan Bostic, along with Sam Wasson (the site owner) have put together 2 amazing articles about the positions and what each does, the 6-2 and, of course the upcoming season. Please, if you haven't, check it out. If you need to brush up on your volleyball IQ, this is the perfect place to do it.
Don't forget - next Tuesday is the Annual Volleyball Banquet. If you haven't made your reservations, do it now!
We're a little over a week away from the alumni game and we can't wait! And, as usual, we will be tailgating - the festivities start at 3pm.

There's a lot to be said about the Volleyball community online. Sure we get into it but there are times when we need to rally around a player.
I was checking out Volleytalk today and found a post about a young volleyball player in Washington. Shay broke her leg during a tournament which led to the discovery of a serious cancer. From her Caring Bridge Journal -
"Shayla Holwegner is my beautiful and sassy 16 year old daughter who was diagnosed with osteo sarcoma in her left femur on 3/2/07. The short story goes like this: Shay got her driver's license on a Saturday, broke her leg on Sunday, was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer on Wednesday and moved to Seattle for treatment on the following Monday, 3/5/07."
Wow.
If you'd like to stop by her Journal, please do and sign the guestbook.
