They both said that the incredible success of the Mens and Womens WAC Basketball tournament played a part in getting the tourny. Other 'bidders' were Nevada and Hawaii.
This is only a one year deal. The tourny will go elsewhere next year.
Said Coach in the press release, "We are very excited to bring the Volleyball Championships to Las Cruces this year. I believe we are goin to have a very good team this year and it will be a great way to finish up the year at home in front of our fans."
It's going to be a great recruiting tool - for both fans and players.
Congratulations to Coach, the team and everyone who worked so hard to bring this to Las Cruces.
On a side note - Coach said the schedule should be out very soon. They are waiting to firm up a couple of times.

The schedule is out. Is it a mistake that NMSU are not coming to Albuquerque? Do you know?
Not a mistake. The bozo's new coach is a weasel and only wants to play NMSU once a year. The following year they will play us in Las Cruces. IMO if the lob's don't want a home and home with us we should drop them altogether and find a team that wants to play us. It's interesting they don't mind playing us in baseball or women's basketball were they have dominated us but now that we dominate them in volleyball it's a once a year thing.
